About Me

Hello,

I am Nashra Ahmad, pursuing my PhD at Durham University in the UK. I am a music and science researcher and work on the interactions between music and Psychology, particularly in rhythms. I love to talk about the evolution of music, creativity, phenomenology, psychology and many things related to the handful of gelly inside the skull.

I am currently researching Entrainment and sensorimotor synchronisation to music, and I have previously worked on the perception of consonance and dissonance (in music). I can design experiments using Eye-tracking devices and Electroencephalography.

I consider myself a musician and diligently practise (and perform) music. You can find my music on Instagram, and youtube. I have been Music Educator and taught music (part-time) to primary and middle school children. I am primarily a singer, but I also play guitar and percussion. I like to find refuge as a landscape and sculpting artist and have made a few landscapes and ceramic instruments.

Please email me if you are interested in collaborating with me.

In this blog, I share my art and music, and write about psychology, neuroscience, and music cognition.
